Appearance
Color
Colorless — invisible once applied to blotter paper
Texture
Blotter squares, gel tabs, microdots, or a clear liquid
Odor
Odorless
Reagent Results
Ehrlich
Purple / magenta
Positive indole reaction — the primary field test for LSD.
Marquis
No reaction
LSD does not react; a strong color points to something else.
Recommended Testing Order
1Place a small cutting of the blotter on a clean white test spot→2Add one drop of Ehrlich reagent→3A purple/magenta color within 1–2 minutes indicates an indole (consistent with LSD)→4No color change suggests NBOMe or another non-indole — discard, do not dose
⚠ Red Flags
Bitter or metallic tasteLSD is tasteless. A bitter or numbing taste points to an NBOMe compound (e.g. 25I-NBOMe), which is far more toxic.
Ehrlich-negativeNo purple with Ehrlich reagent means no indole — likely NBOMe or another research chemical sold as LSD, not real LSD.
Needs multiple tabs to feel effectsActive LSD doses are tiny (~100 µg). Needing several tabs suggests weak or non-LSD material — do not redose blindly.
