This illustrates the ideal format for an experience report. It is not a real first-person experience report.
Low-dose psilocybin: a prepared solo session
Setting & intention — A free afternoon at home with no obligations; I told a friend I'd be unavailable but reachable, and went in wanting quiet self-reflection rather than stimulation.
Preparation — I'd eaten lightly a few hours before, kept water nearby, and made sure I had nothing else on board.
Timeline — Onset was gradual; around forty minutes in I noticed a lightness and a softening of my usual mental chatter. The next two hours were the most active — gentle movement in closed-eye textures, and an unusual ease in revisiting things I'd been avoiding thinking about. By hour four it had mostly settled into a calm, reflective afterglow.
Afterward — I journaled for a while and went to bed early. Over the following days, a couple of the things that surfaced stayed useful to think about.
What I'd note — Having nothing scheduled and a sober point of contact mattered more than I expected; the experience was manageable precisely because I wasn't rushing it.
