Convert between common substance measurement units. The difference between milligrams and micrograms is 1,000x. A unit error can be fatal.

quick reference (mg → µg)
0.1 mg=100 µg
0.5 mg=500 µg
1 mg=1,000 µg
5 mg=5,000 µg
10 mg=10,000 µg
25 mg=25,000 µg
50 mg=50,000 µg
100 mg=100,000 µg
250 mg=250,000 µg
500 mg=500,000 µg
1000 mg=1,000,000 µg

common unit reference

1 g (gram)= 1,000 mg = 1,000,000 µg
1 mg (milligram)= 0.001 g = 1,000 µg
1 µg (microgram)= 0.001 mg = 0.000001 g
1 ml (milliliter)= 0.001 L = ~20 drops (varies by viscosity)
1 grain= 64.8 mg (pharmaceutical grain, rarely used)

substances active at microgram level

These substances require extreme precision. Confusion between mg and µg at these dose levels can be fatal. Always use volumetric dosing for sub-milligram doses.

–LSD: active in the microgram range (see substance page for cited dose data)
–Fentanyl and analogues: active and potentially lethal in the microgram range for opioid-naive individuals (CDC, WHO)
–NBOMe series: active in the microgram range with a poorly defined margin of safety
–Many research chemicals in the lysergamide and phenethylamine classes

Specific dose values are available on each substance's page with full source citations. The ranges above are general pharmacological classifications, not dosing guidance.
